Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Whitehorse
Arrive in Whitehorse, Yukon’s friendly and quirky capital. Transfer to your hotel and attend a welcome orientation with your local guide. In the evening, head to a secluded viewing area just outside the city for your first night of Northern Lights viewing, complete with hot drinks, snacks, and a warming hut.
Day 2: Whitehorse City & Nature
After a leisurely breakfast, take a city tour including the SS Klondike National Historic Site, Miles Canyon, and the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre. In the afternoon, visit a wildlife preserve where you can see bison, moose, lynx, and foxes. After dinner, return to a heated aurora viewing yurt or lodge for your second night of lights.
Day 3: Dogsledding & Aurora Lodge
Drive into the Yukon wilderness to meet your team of Alaskan huskies. Learn to mush and then set out on a thrilling dog sledding ride through snowy trails. After lunch, check into an aurora viewing lodge where you'll spend two nights. After dark, relax in an outdoor hot tub and wait for the lights to dance across the sky.
Day 4: Snowshoeing & Winter Wildlife
Start your day with a guided snowshoeing hike, exploring frozen forests and spotting animal tracks. In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional First Nations storytelling session by a local elder. After dinner, gather again under the stars for another night of aurora watching, hopefully with green, purple, and red hues painting the sky.
Day 5: Ice Fishing & Return to Whitehorse
This morning, try your hand at ice fishing on a remote frozen lake. Warm up in a log cabin with a fresh-cooked fish lunch. Return to Whitehorse by late afternoon for a relaxing evening or optional souvenir shopping. One final optional aurora outing is available if the skies are clear.
